BC SAFE to Host "Chalk the Walk, Have the Talk" Art Gallery Celebrating Community Messages of Hope

Community event will showcase artwork created during the 7th Annual Chalk the Walk, Have the Talk campaign

(BROOME COUNTY, NY) – The BC SAFE Coalition invites members of the media, community partners, and the public to attend the Chalk the Walk, Have the Talk Art Gallery on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 6 - 7 PM at the Broome County Public Library, 185 Court Street, Binghamton, NY.

The Art Gallery will celebrate the creativity, connection, and messages of hope shared throughout Broome County during BC SAFE's 7th Annual Chalk the Walk, Have the Talk campaign.

Throughout the campaign, schools, businesses, organizations, families, and community members were encouraged to create chalk artwork centered around this year's theme, "The World is Brighter with You in It." The campaign uses creative expression as an opportunity to promote hope, reduce stigma, and encourage open and honest conversations about mental health and suicide prevention.

The Art Gallery will bring those messages together in one space, highlighting artwork submitted through the Chalk the Walk, Have the Talk Art Contest and recognizing the creativity and participation of community members who helped bring this year's campaign to life.

"This gallery is an opportunity to celebrate more than artwork - it's an opportunity to celebrate the messages behind it,” said Britt Riso, Coordinator of BC SAFE. "Every message of hope, every conversation started, and every person who participated helped remind our community that no one has to struggle alone and that the world truly is brighter with them in it."

The event will also recognize this year's art contest participants and winners, including entries in the categories of Best Use of Theme, Best Use of Color, Most Imaginative, Best Group Collaboration, and Kids Kreation.

Community members are encouraged to attend, view the artwork, celebrate this year's participants, and join BC SAFE in continuing conversations about hope, connection, mental health, and suicide prevention beyond Suicide Prevention Month.
