Clay County Honors Judge Shane T. Alexander for Service and Community Impact

The Clay County Commission recognized the Honorable Judge Shane T. Alexander with an honorary resolution celebrating his dedication to public service and his meaningful contributions to the community. During the recognition, Commissioner Lawson highlighted the judge’s “unbelievable impact” on Clay County.

A lifelong county resident and U.S. Navy veteran, Judge Alexander earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri–Columbia and his law degree from the University of Missouri–Kansas City. He was appointed a circuit judge in 2008 and serves in Division 1 of the 7th Judicial Circuit, hearing criminal and civil matters.

Judge Alexander also oversees Clay County’s four treatment courts. His work reflects a commitment to providing individuals with meaningful opportunities for rehabilitation and positive change, helping them move toward productive lives.

In accepting the recognition, Judge Alexander reflected on his deep ties to the community where he grew up and where he and his wife raised their family.

“I am an old Clay County guy. I was born here, raised here,” Judge Alexander said. “I love Clay County, and it’s the honor of my life to get to serve Clay County.”
