Local teenagers are invited to have a voice in helping provide their thoughts, ideas and solutions to modern problems to Douglas County Elected Officials and community leaders.

Youth Congress empowers teenagers from all walks of life to help solve teenage problems by finding creative solutions. During the event, students, elected officials and community leaders work together in the spirit of creating positive change.

“Young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow—they have the insight, creativity and courage to lead today,” said Douglas County Commissioner Abe Laydon. “Youth Congress gives students a seat at the table and gives elected officials the opportunity to listen, learn and work alongside them on issues that directly affect their lives. I encourage every Douglas County high school student who wants to make a difference to join us.”

This year, participants will hear from subject matter experts on topicsdiscussions are expected to cover topics  such as E-Bikes & Community Safety, Online Bullying & Digital Wellness and Physical School Security, offering adults their perspectives and experiences.
