Residents invited to County community meeting on speed tables in Ha'iku

The County of Maui invites residents to attend a community meeting on speed tables in Haʻikū on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Haʻikū Community Center, 137 Hana Highway.

The meeting is part of the County’s ongoing review of traffic-calming measures in Haʻikū and follows several months of community engagement, site visits and roadway evaluations. The meeting will include presentations from the County Department of Public Works (DPW), the State Department of Transportation and community advocate Gregg Blue.  

Representatives from both agencies will provide an overview of their respective processes for evaluating and implementing traffic-calming measures on roadways under their jurisdiction. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentations.

“We’ve learned a great deal by listening to our community over the past several months,” Mayor Richard Bissen said. “This meeting is another opportunity to share information, continue the discussion and continue to work together toward solutions.”
