Affordable HACCP-Based Training Program Aims to Strengthen Food Safety for Vulnerable Populations

LUNENBURG, NOVA SCOTIA, CANADA, April 1, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- eHACCP.org, a provider of online food safety and HACCP training, has officially launched its Community Food Safety Initiative, a new program designed to support food banks, shelters, and community kitchens serving vulnerable and food-insecure populations.

The initiative provides organizations with access to structured, HACCP-based training at a significantly reduced cost, helping ensure that food distributed to those most in need is handled safely and responsibly.

Through this program, eligible organizations receive:

• The Certified HACCP Principles and GDPs for Food Storage and Distribution Operations and/or the Certified HACCP Principles and GMPs for Restaurants and Food Services course, designed for management and program leaders ($99). Courses are accredited by the International HACCP Alliance.

• Five (5) complimentary seats in the Basic GMP and HACCP Training for Workers in Food Industries course, designed for staff and volunteers (5 free per address).

• Fully online, self-paced training with digital certificates upon completion

“Organizations serving vulnerable populations are doing critical work, often under significant resource constraints,” said Stephen Sockett, founder of eHACCP.org. “This initiative is about making practical, professional food safety training accessible so they can continue their work with confidence and reduced risk.”

Food banks and community food programs frequently operate in high-demand environments where formal food safety training may be limited or inconsistent. The eHACCP.org Community Food Safety Initiative aims to address this gap by providing accessible education aligned with internationally recognized HACCP principles and Good Distribution Practices (GDPs) and Certified HACCP Principles and GMPs for Restaurants and Food Services.

The program is open to a wide range of organizations, including food banks, shelters, soup kitchens, and other non-profit food distribution programs.

By participating, organizations can strengthen their food safety practices, reduce the risk of foodborne illness, and demonstrate a commitment to the well-being of the communities they serve.

Applications are now open. Please visit their website or call for more information.
